The Allen Brad-ley 1746-A7 is a mounting rack with 7 slots that is part of the SLC 500 family of products. The 1746-A7 mounting rack is used to hold processors and modules from the SLC 500 family. For expansion, three extra racks can be connected to the 1746-A7 by interconnecting cables. The cables that can be used with the 1746-A7 are the 1746-C7, 1746-C9, and 1746-C16. There are no replacements for these cables. The 1746-A7 requires individual power supply mounted on the far left of the chassis. The 1746-A7 modular chassis accommodates the processor, adapter module, and the I/O modules all in one place.
While mounting the 1746-A7, allow for sufficient mounting space. Leave a space of 6 inches between the modules/controllers and the 1746-A7 rack on both the top and bottom. Leave 4 inches on both the right and left side of the rack. When installing the 1746-A7 chassis, make holes in the enclosure's back panel to introduce chassis mounting. Install the hardware for the top mounting tabs. Slide the chassis over the installed hardware and tighten the screws. Install the remaining tab hardware leaving the far right and left tabs open to cater for grounding.
Without modules in the rack, the 1746-A7 weighs 2.4 lbs. The dimensions of the 1746-A7 are 11.3 x 6.8 x 5.8 inches. The operating temperature for the rack ranges between 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit) and it has a storage temperature between -40-85 degrees Celsius (-40-185 degrees Fahrenheit). In addition, it has a relative humidity rating of 5-95% in a non-condensing environment. The 1746-A7 is manufactured for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D in a non-hazardous setting.
