The Allen Brad-ley 1746-IA16 digital input module is a member of the SLC-500 family of processors. The 1746-IA16 has 16 input points and operates with a voltage category of 100V or 120V AC input signal. The 1746-IA16 has 16 points per common and its operating voltage is 85-132V AC at 47-63Hz. In addition, the 1746-IA16's backplane current consumption is 0.085A at 5V DC and 0A at 24V DC.

The maximum signal delay for the ON and OFF states is 35ms and 45ms, respectively. The 1746-IA16's maximum off-state voltage is 30V AC, its maximum off-state current is 2mA, and its input current is 12mA at 120V AC nominal. The maximum inrush current for the 1746-IA16 is 0.8A while the maximum inrush current time lasts for 0.5ms.

You can use a current limiting resistor for limiting the inrush current. This resistor will change the operation of the 1746-IA16 AC module. AC input devices, e.g. the 1746-IA16, needs to be compatible with the SLC-500 input circuit inrush current. It operates optimally at temperatures between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius.

Dimension wise, the 1746-IA16 measures 13cm x 5cm x 15cm. The 1746-IA16 is manufactured for use with programmable controllers. It is KCC, MARINE-ABS, C-Tick, MARINE -BVS, MARINE GL, MARINE -LR, CE marked and MARINE -DNV-certified.
 
The 1746-IA16 is intended for mounting on a chassis which has an open enclosure.  It has a 500 VDC isolation on communication channels and 1500V AC backplane isolation. At 10-2000Hz, the 1746-IA16's vibration rating is 1G.
